Understanding the Roles of Antioxidants in Cancer

Antioxidants appear on two sides of the same coin, depleted in certain diseases and overabundant in others. This network of enzymes and cofactors prevents the accumulation of reactive oxygen species and subsequent oxidative stress. A grossly unmet need is the ability to regulate antioxidants to either prevent or treat disease. The Harris Lab focuses on uncovering how antioxidants are made, how they are used, and how modulating them can improve disease outcomes.
